Environment

While setting up the new websites (see About Us), we have had a good look at all the products and what might happen to them when they are finished with.  

FABRICS:

The fabrics are all organic cotton, many of them are Fairtrade as well. 

Shrinkage:

Velvet & corduroy have been preshrunk.

Other fabrics have been washed in soapnuts at 35 °C so hopefully they will have shrunk, if they are going to, but take care washing these fabrics as they may still shrink.  They were then pressed, but don't look as flat as they did when they arrived from the supplier. 

If you would like your items made up with unwashed fabric, let us know, but do remember they are more likely to shrink.   

STUFFING:

Organic wool from Cornwall is used to stuff decorations.

WHAT THE PRODUCTS ARE MADE FROM:

APRONS & TOTE BAGS - Organic calico, contrast borders/motifs are made from a variety of fairtrade, organic cotton fabrics.

SHOPPING BAGS - Organic canvas, contrast borders/motifs are made from a variety of fairtrade, organic cotton fabrics.

EVENING BAGS - Organic, fairtrade cotton corduroy or velvet, lined with organic cotton poplin and interlined with organic cotton canvas

DECORATIONS - Organic, fairtrade cotton corduroy or velvet, with organic cornish wool stuffing.

EMBELLISHMENTS for the above are made from a variety of materials.


AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED WITH PRODUCTS:

Hopefully any of these products could be passed on to someone else - maybe a charity shop?

PACKAGING: 

Where possible recycled products have been used, and all packaging (whether it is made from recycled materials or not) is recyclable.

HOW PRODUCTS ARE PACKAGED:

Items are wrapped in tissue paper and packed in paper-padded envelopes or boxes with shredded paper, craft paper/card offcuts or biodegradable loose fill.  Packages are sealed with gummed paper tape.
